I was honored to be invited to participate as a panelist at yesterday’s meeting of the SEC’s Investor Advisory Committee to share my views on the private placement market and discuss potential reforms to the Accredited Investor definition. As I told the IAC’, as the SEC’s most important advisory committee and that which is most concerned with issues impacting ordinary retail investors, I believe the IAC must offer a full-throated defense of the public markets and put its weight and its voice behind policies that will check the mindless growth of private markets, which increasingly threatens the interests of ordinary investors, as well as the vibrancy of U.S. public markets.
